Degenerative Disc Disease
Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is caused when the intervertebral discs between the vertebra become dehydrated and lose their normal height. This causes the discs to become less affective as the body's natural shock absorbers. DDD can happen from trauma and progressively get worse over time. Patients with DDD can have back pain, extremity pain, weakness, tingling as well as have it negatively affect their activities of daily living (ADLs).
