Non Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD) utilizing the DRX 9000 lumbar system in Ventura County:

For years, we have helped local residents, as well as people from all over California get relief from debilitating lower back pain, sciatica, facet syndrome, disc degeneration, disc bulges and disc herniations.

NSSD works by slowly stretching the vertebra in such a way where the muscles relax, rather than tighten up and spasm. This creates a lower pressure inside the vertebral discs which allows nutrients, oxygen and fluid to flow into the disc and waste and other materials to exit the disc. This “milking” action can help reduce disc bulges and herniations.

NSSD is so comfortable and relaxing that most patients fall asleep on the table. Our patients have experienced reduction in pain and an improvement in function. Some patients have even used NSSD as an alternative to surgery or to help with past failed lower back surgeries. All patient’s conditions and responses are different, therefore, like any other medical procedure, we can not guarantee results.

We have a proprietary NSSD program that is tailored to fit each patient’s condition. This can include therapy and rehabilitation. However, not everyone is a candidate for NSSD. Therefore, we offer a consultation and evaluation with one of our highly trained doctors. We perform specific orthopedic and neurological tests, as well as review x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to determine if NSSD is right for you.

Back Pain Relief in Simi Valley at Superior Physical Medicine Back Pain

Studies have shown that up to 80% of the population will have a back problem at some point during their lives. Back pain can come on suddenly (acute) from an accident, injury or seemingly out of nowhere. It can also be terrible pain that plagues people for years and years (chronic). Add stress, obesity, poor posture, and back pain can get complicated and negatively affect your life.

Back pain can stem from various structures, such as the vertebra, nerves, muscles, ligaments and tendons. Over our combined 19 years of clinical experience, we have helped hundreds of patients with both acute and chronic back pain with our natural, non-surgical techniques. We not only help people with their back pain and dysfunction, but teach them how to keep their backs healthy, pain free and prevent other back problems from occurring. Possible Causes of Back Pain: Sciatica

Sciatica is a lower back problem where people can have pain in the back, buttocks, legs and even into the feet. Pain may be accompanied by numbness, tingling, burning, trigger points, muscle spasms and/or muscle weakness. Sciatica can be caused by pressure on lumbar and/or sacral nerves or pressure from a disc bulge or herniation.

Herniated Disc

A herniated disc is when the soft center of the vertebral disc, the nucleus pulposus, protrudes through a tear in the outer, stronger rings of the disc, the annual fibrosus. The result can be pain, local and/or radicular, as well as pressure on the exiting nerves.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a complicated pain syndrome that can affect the entire body. People with fibromyalgia can experience a wide range of symptoms, including, but not limited to, joint and muscle pain, fatigue, weakness, painful pressure points, digestion problems, endocrine disorders and “brain fog”. Because fibromyalgia affects the central nervous system and musculoskeletal system, chiropractic can offer relief to a lot of these sufferers.

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal canal becomes smaller which affects the nerves and spinal cord. This can be due to a number of conditions, including degeneration and disc herniations. When spinal stenosis is present, it can cause back pain, weakness or paresthesias in the back and/or extremities.

Bulging Disc

A bulging intervertebral disc occurs when the soft center of the disc, the nucleus pulposus, is allowed to push through a weakened area in the disc’s outer, stronger rings, the annulus fibrosus. The disc bulge can affect the spinal nerves and cause back pain and dysfunction. Over time, the disc bulge may worsen into a disc herniation, which can cause even more severe back pain and negatively affect function.

Degenerative Disc Disease

Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is caused when the intervertebral discs between the vertebra become dehydrated and lose their normal height. This causes the discs to become less affective as the body’s natural shock absorbers. DDD can happen from trauma and progressively get worse over time. Patients with DDD can have back pain, extremity pain, weakness, tingling as well as have it negatively affect their activities of daily living (ADLs).

Neck Pain in Simi Valley

Neck pain can be caused by structures in the neck, such as muscles, tendons or nerves. It may also be a result of underlying conditions, such as degenerative joint or disc disease, a disc bulge or herniation, pinched nerve, neck sprain or strain or even whiplash. All of these conditions can cause altered spinal biomechanics that add to the pain and dysfunction.

Neck pain, or cervical pain can produce a variety of symptoms. These can include pain in the neck area, the head and the muscles of the upper back and shoulders. In more severe cases, there may be radicular symptoms, such as pain going down one or both arms, numbness, tingling or even muscle weakness. Problems in the neck can also contribute to headaches.

We utilize our expertise to help determine the cause of neck pain and use the appropriate treatments to help you feel better as fast as possible.
